In order to assess the Academy’s current IT infrastructure and to evaluate its future technological needs, Akron Digital Academy (ADA) commissioned RNR Consulting to conduct an Information Technology (IT) Needs Assessment and develop an IT Strategic Plan. As ADA continues to grow and looks to expand, this IT Strategic Plan is necessary to provide a plan of action for alignment of ADA IT resources and successful realization of the overall strategic direction and vision of the Academy. The Plan was created in consideration of findings from the activities conducted by RNR Consulting and its ultimate goal was to serve as a guide for investments and improvements in ADA’s overall IT environment. To properly assess the “As-Is” state of technology within ADA, RNR Consulting conducted the following data collection and analysis activities: 
 

• Conducted a discovery survey
• Interviewed ADA key personnel
• Reviewed current technology
• Evaluated internal IT reporting processes
• Conducted Full-Time Equivalent analyses 
• Reviewed application architecture
• Examined network architecture
• Conducted an IT systems audit
• Performed IT security risk assessment
• Reviewed IT policies and procedures

RNR Consulting utilized data collected through the project activities to evaluate the current IT environment and create the IT strategic plan for the Academy. Based upon the comprehensive analyses, over forty actionable recommendations were developed for ADA as a method for improving utilization of Information Technology. The Plan included not only recommendations for the enhancement of operational efficiency by updating core technology components, but was also focused on ensuring development and alignment of IT staff by creating a full time Director of IT position, IT Council and adding certified IT professionals. All proposed solutions were prioritized, grouped into short, medium and long term initiatives, and accompanied by an implementation plan for all recommendations. IT Strategic Plan created by RNR Consulting was used by the client to enhance ADA’s overall IT operational efficiencies, improve internal resource utilization and enable the school to better serve its students.
