Long Range IT Assessment
RNR Consulting was contracted by the Dayton Metropolitan Housing Authority (DMHA) to evaluate the current IT infrastructure at the Agency and to develop a comprehensive IT roadmap. This roadmap will help DMHA align and fully utilize DMHA’s IT resources towards successful realization of the overall strategic direction and vision of the Agency. Additional objectives specific to this assessment included the following:
- Assess adequacy of technology and IT related processes required to successfully support future scope of DMHA operations
- Ensure the IT architecture is aligned with housing industry standards and best practices
- Help DMHA become more efficient through more effective utilization of technology
RNR Consulting conducted ten (10) targeted activities to gain insights into the inner workings of DMHA and its technological capabilities. These activities included: Discovery questionnaire, Interview sessions with key stakeholders, Application architecture review, Network Architecture Review, Review of IT policies and procedures, IT Hardware Analysis, Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Analysis of the IT Department, SWOT Analysis, and Review of IT Documents.
Based upon these comprehensive analysis, over thirty actionable recommendations were developed for DMHA for improving the utilization of Information Technology. The final report included not only recommendations for the enhancement of operational efficiency by updating core technology components, but was also focused on ensuring development and alignment of IT staff. All proposed solutions were prioritized, grouped into short, medium and long term initiatives, and accompanied by an implementation plan.
