Organizational Assessment
RNR Consulting was commissioned by Cascade Water Alliance (“Cascade”) to conduct an organizational assessment of the agency. The initiative was aimed at identifying and prioritizing major internal and external challenges, currently facing the organization. Specific functional areas, which were part of the organizational assessment included: Information Technologies, Operations, Marketing and Communications Management, as well as Organization and Administration. Our goal for the project was to develop and present a list of practical recommendations on how to address the obstacles, currently experienced by Cascade, and to provide the foundation for the agency’s strategic planning efforts.
RNR Consulting’s approach consisted of three main phases: 1) Data Gathering, 2) Data Analysis, and 3) Final Report Development. During the Data Gathering phase the consulting team obtained information through interviews and review of available documentation. Personal interviews were the main tool for information gathering utilized during the initial phase of the project. This approach allowed us to incorporate various perspectives on the same issue and provided necessary information, which enabled the consulting team to obtain a clear picture of the challenges faced by Cascade at present. The Data Analysis stage, on the other hand, was characterized by analysis of the data acquired during the initial phase. The information was then synthesized into a GAP Table, listing the current and desired states of Cascade, as well as existing gaps per functional area.
The key findings from the GAP Analysis were then utilized to identify challenges in critical key areas. Clear steps and rationale are provided in the report below ending with practical recommendations designed to prioritize and address major internal and external challenges, currently experienced by Cascade. The recommendations address key observations made by the project team throughout this endeavor and list action steps, which can be utilized to guide the agency’s team during potential implementation of our recommendations. In addition to the approach to be taken (actions steps), the stakeholders, and comments (if any) are also included, in order to provide clarifications on the recommendations. Finally, a timeline was developed, which assigns priority to each recommendation and a specific schedule for implementation to all.
