Development of ERP System Requirements and Return on Investment Analysis

The Solano Irrigation District (SID) has contracted RNR Consulting to perform a high level Database Needs Assessment and Requirements Definition for their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. RNR Consulting has developed System Requirements to be used in the selection of the best software solution for SID. We have also completed a high level Return on Investment (ROI) Analysis to evaluate the value of an ERP system implementation at SID.

The Return on Investment which SID will gain, from the ERP system implementation initiative, will come not only from implementing the software solution but also from the real business change that supports this initiative. RNR Consulting organized the project according to SID’s vision to establish a competitive advantage. RNR defined the ERP ROI in terms of reduced process times, increased efficiency and employees’ responsibility and accountability, and data driven decision making capabilities.

RNR Consulting has also identified that the ERP system implementation will significantly improve SID’s operations and increases its efficiency through:

  • Reduced employee time on key activities;
  • Improved accounts receivable and payable scheduling;
  • Improved inventory management and work order management;
  • Implementation of encumbrance accounting;
  • Establishment of Human Resources (HR) practices;
  • Enhanced decision making capabilities.
  • RNR Consulting will be also involved in the selection of the ERP System; and ultimately, the implementation of the new system.
