Development of Time and Attendance Application Process Maps

The leadership team at CATS wished to implement an innovative time and attendance application to better monitor and control employee hours and absenteeism. In order to utilize the benefits of a new application and implement it seamlessly, the CATS’ technology team and the human resources department were looking to develop process maps of current time and attendance policies. During implementation, these process maps were used to create business rules within time and attendance applications. These maps not only shortened implementation time, but also helped CATS to correct pitfalls in the current policies.

RNR Consulting conducted interviews with individuals in the human resources department to identify current “leave and attendance” policies. Interviews were also conducted with the technology department to identify desired application architecture, and also with other departments to delineate division-specific HR practices. RNR Consulting developed detailed process maps for current (“As-Is”) HR policies and future (“To-Be”) HR policies for time and attendance applications. These maps helped CATS’ human resources department and management team in the identification of gaps in the current policies.
