ERP Implementation
Undercar Express (UCX) decided to procure a more comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in order to implement lean manufacturing strategies to control inventory, waiting time, defects, and overall customer satisfaction with the assistance of RNR Consulting. RNR Consulting was engaged to assist UCX in procuring and implementing an ERP System to improve resource allocation and utilization within UCX. RNR Consulting conducted a number of activities and analyses to evaluate current processes and systems.
The initial activities helped review current processes at UCX and to identify key issues. Detailed process mapping, data flow mapping, and functional maps further identified current processes, analyzed data flow among departments, and evaluated the overall interactions between various functional areas. RNR Consulting then conducted job-time studies to estimate the current time allocated to manual processes, and the potential benefits of automating such processes to evaluate UCX in the lean manufacturing business. In order to address potential change management issues, we conducted surveys with both administrative and executive staff members to understand issues that may be involved in implementing a new system. Further, RNR Consulting played a vital role in data entry and conversion and testing. An integral part of deploying lean manufacturing strategies was documenting new processes and procedures as it related to the ERP system.
