Integrated ERP and Maintenance Systems Selection and Implementation

RNR Consulting was engaged by the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) to assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of an integrated financial, administrative, transportation, and maintenance information solution to replace their DOS-based FleetNet system. The remnants of the legacy system and its associated processes were producing bottlenecks impeding DART’s transition from a metropolitan transit authority into a regional transit authority. RNR Consulting spearheaded the initiative to transform DART’s system and processes to allow efficient management of the increased responsibilities generated by the transition to a regional authority.

Through the conscientious activities of this project, RNR Consulting successfully completed negotiations with the system vendor that saved DART in excess of $600,000 on the initial proposal price. RNR Consulting concentrated on the maintenance of the central client focus throughout the project by serving as the primary project managers responsible for ensuring timely project completion within the allocated budget. In collaboration with the technical teams from Microsoft Dynamics GP and Maximus, RNR Consulting maintained active involvement throughout the various system implementation phases. Specifically, RNR Consulting’s responsibilities included business process analyses, data conversion, system and security requirements documentation, application configuration, custom SQL report development, and user training.

After the system “Go-Live” activity, RNR Consulting remained on site to ensure DART personnel were utilizing the system to its full potential. RNR Consulting provided the necessary extra training and guidance that DART personnel required to become self sufficient in full utilization of the system.
