Inventory Assessment

The goal of the Cleveland Water Department (CWD) through this project was to increase efficiencies and decrease errors in inventory management. RNR Consulting conducted the necessary activities to perform an inventory assessment for CWD. These activities provided an understanding of the current departmental processes and the personnel resources and the technology utilized for these processes. We also identified critical issues confronting CWD. RNR Consulting assisted the CWD inventory team with the physical inventory count, during which we implemented an orderly and systematic approach to inventory identification and counting.

 

RNR Consulting uncovered several critical issues during the physical inventory count. Significant variances between the physical count and the system-generated inventory records were investigated and reasons for the variances were documented. These underlying problems varied from training to process development and from system usage to inventory organization. Identification and documentation was provided for those areas most critical for the short-term and long-term sustainability of the inventory management process. RNR Consulting created a pictorial catalogue to be used as a reference/training guide for the outlying locations.
