Scheduling Application Integrated with CAD/AVL

The City of Arlington Department of Community Services offers a demand-response transportation service, Handitran, to senior citizens and citizens with disabilities from the City of Arlington and Pantego, Texas. RNR Consulting was engaged to conduct a requirements definition, system selection and implementation of a scheduling application system to be integrated with CAD/AVL. The requirements definition phase included:

  • Conducting interviews;

  • Developing “As-Is” process maps;

  • Conducting a Strength/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threat (SWOT) analysis;

  • Documenting best practices and benchmarking; and 

  • Conducting an FTE analysis.

The system selection phase includes:

  • Completing approximately 450 functional requirements;

  • Assisting with the request for proposal development including evaluation criteria;

  • Conducting a cost benefit analysis

  • Conducting a gap analysis; and

  • Recommending a proposed solution.

After the negotiations are completed, RNR Consulting managed the implementation, which encompassed activities such as training, data conversion, and managing the selected vendor.
